If you're looking for a great spot to hunt the in the Black Hills for whitetails and Merriam's Turkey's this might be it. The deer numbers on this property are high. The deer in this area are extremely acclimated to humans. The more houses you have around, the larger the local deer herd is. This property has urban area to the North and East. The deer all leave town in the morning and come back up the hill through this property to bed on and around it. To the West and South you have back door access into Forest Service land that you can also hunt.
This land is almost exclusively whitetails, there's a small chance of Mule Deer coming through.
There are a couple water holes spring's on this lease. Odds are, all but the spring or even the spring as well will dry up mid summer-fall. There's literally no water in this case for the deer. A couple small water tanks on this property would be incredible. Not only for the entire hunting season, but for awesome trail cam inventories in the summer as well.
The landowner lives on the property and might entertain the idea of filling the tank for you periodically when needed. The landowner is a great guy, and is fine with you camping on the property. His driveway is fairly steep in spots so an extra-large camper might be difficult to get up.
These Merriam's Turkeys have the very whitest tail fans in the country, and are extremely vocal. They respond to calling great, and this property has lots of nice flat ground to set up.
Property is 15 minutes from Sturgis SD, and 15 minutes from Rapid City. Less than one hour to Mount Rushmore and everything else the Black Hills has to offer.
